Growing up in the hood, I am constantly ask why I listen to Hip Hop music. Apart from the fact that I like it and it sounds nice to my ears, i relate to it. Hip Hop has transcended into a realm of its own. It has reached many people from across the globe, uniting various cultural and social groups. I look at my own life, Hip hop has given me a voice and identity that seperates me from others, yet it has united me with a community of intellectuals, expressionists and poets alike. Debates and provocative conversations are the norm in my circles. We share information, knowledge and wisdom daily.
Hip Hop therefore is a form of enrichment. Rap music is the verbal expression of the hip hop movement. Rap speaks to the world. Mcs have become mordern-day prophets. They practise true freedom of speech. So, when you see an mc freestyling, give him/her the props they deserve. It takes guts to stand up and speak what you believe. I constantly surf the web looking for unsigned artists. Sites like Reverbnation.com and Soundcloud.com have given me the opportunity to hear fresh Hip Hop, as well share music with others. We ought to build a bigger community for Hip Hop y'all. Become a member and share your views, news and links on magicmusicallstars.blogspot.com. Check out Legendary Wordsmiths by Magic Music on the Reverbnation link on the blog. One!
